Region Public Affairs Officer

Public Affairs Officer Objectives:

  1.      Increase public awareness of CAP, its local, state and national missions, and its contributions to the nation.
  2.      Develop and conduct a comprehensive internal and external PA plan.
  3.      Promote cooperation between CAP and other aviation organizations, the military, business, industry and civic groups.
  4.      Consistently communicate the CAP brand identity and inspire every member to help build awareness of CAP.

Basic Duties and Responsibilities: 

Primary Officer responsible for receiving, evaluating and posting information to the appropriate sites used by the Region
Serves as a field representative for National Headquarters Public Affairs (NHQ PA) and as a liaison among the wing, group, squadron and flight PAOs.
Guides the work of the wing PAOs by developing an annual region PA plan 
Supports PA’s national strategic goals and objectives.
Serves as advisor and supervisor and consults frequently with subordinate wing, group, squadron and flight PAOs.
Needs to become familiar with CAPR 190-1 CIVIL AIR PATROL PUBLIC AFFAIRS PROGRAM, CAPP 152, Social Media Guidelines and National Public Affairs Website 


Completion of the Public Affairs Specialty Track, Senior Level desired, but not mandatory

Previous experience is desirable, but not mandatory.  

As a primary duty, member will be assigned to North Central Region 001 as primary unit.  May continue activities with other units as additional duty.

As assistant, this would be an additional duty, and the member would remain in their primary unit.
