Davis Selected as Next Kansas Wing Commander

North Central Region Commander, Col. Thomas Theis, announced Lt. Col. Eric Davis as Kansas Wing commander-select, assuming command from Col. Mark Lahan. Tentative plans are to conduct the change-of-command ceremony on May 10, 2025, in Salina, Kansas, during the North Central Region Cadet Competition activity. 

Lt. Col. Eric Davis first joined Civil Air Patrol as a cadet in 1980 with the Oklahoma Stillwater Composite Squadron. He remained with the squadron attending several encampments, National Blue Beret, and earned his solo wings. After serving a tour of active duty with the U.S. Army, he rejoined CAP as an adult member serving as deputy commander of cadets for the Oklahoma Broken Arrow Composite Squadron as well as a pilot and mission observer, until he graduated from college.

Lt. Col. Davis rejoined CAP in 2012 and has been very active serving as a squadron commander in both Iowa and Kansas Wings as well as several Kansas Wing staff positions. He holds master ratings in Command, Communications, Aerospace, and Safety specialty tracks. He has participated in several encampments and National Cadet Special Activities. He is an active mission pilot and flight instructor.

Lt. Col. Davis is employed as a principal engineer with Collins Aerospace in Lenexa, Kansas. He holds a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering and a Master of Science degree in aerospace engineering, with 30 years of aerospace industry experience.
