Former Minnesota Wing Cadet is Top Air Force Academy CAP Grad
This year's top CAP graduate at the U.S. Air Force Academy is former Minnesota Wing Cadet Regan Hansen!
Here’s the short write up from the Academy: “Cadet Regan Hansen grew up in Rosemount, MN, and joined her local CAP squadron to pursue flight lessons (130th Composite Squadron, MN 130, in Lakeville, Minnesota). At USAFA, she double majored in Aeronautical Engineering and Applied Mathematics, performing research in hypersonics. Regan was on the Nordic Ski Team all four years at the Academy and served as team captain for the past two years. After graduation, she will attend the Massachusetts Institute of Technology to pursue a Master of Science in Aerospace Engineering. Following that, she will be attending Euro-NATO Joint Jet Pilot Training Program (ENJJPT) at Sheppard Air Force Base for pilot training.”
Former CAP national commander, Maj. Gen. Mark Smith, notes: "I reached out to MNWG and her home squadron for any comments about Cadet Hansen. My thanks to current squadron commander, Capt Nancy Zimmer, for gathering and sending me inputs. I included in my remarks reading this, written by Cadet Hansen’s Aerospace Education Officer:
'Congratulations to Cadet Hansen!! I remember her enthusiasm for Aerospace Education and excitement completing her solo flight. She had a passion to serve in the military and I was thrilled for her when she was accepted to the Air Force Academy. Cadet Hansen was a team player and would help anyone who needed assistance, and a humble person who was grateful for the opportunities she was able to participate in. She strived for excellence in everything she set a goal for and pursued.'
I felt that testimonial perfectly summed up Cadet Hansen as a CAP cadet, USAFA cadet, and future Air Force leader – a leader of character. She is graduating 8th overall in her class and picked up Grad honors from the Aerospace Engineering department."
