Iowa Wing Presents Congressional Gold Medal
On Memorial Day, May 30th, 2022, Hazel Swanson a local Cedar Falls resident was presented with a Congressional Gold Medal to honor her contribution to the nation's wartime effort in World War ll. This medal is similar to a medal that Congress honored CAP to recognize more than 120,000 members during the war collectively across the country in 2014. Iowa Wing members, including those from the Black Hawk Country Composite Squadron, were honored to present Mrs. Swanson with not only a medal, but multiple letters from our state's leaders such as Senator Chuck Grassley, and a flag that had been flown over the U.S. Capitol.
