Missouri Wing Drone Pilots Train
Missouri Wing's Group II sUAS (small unmanned aerial system or drone) mission pilots met recently at Bonne Terre Airport. They completed the NIST (National Insititute of Standards and Technology) Open Bucket Flight Test. They are planning to all meet on a quarterly bases for training and sharing tips on sUAS flying.
Besides teaching all aspects of controlled flight, drones have proven useful in search missions and have been credited with actual Saves during disaster responses by Civil Air Patrol -- including the 2022 successful rescue of a trapped boater in Florida during Hurricane Ian found by a Missouri Wing sUAS team!
