Missouri Wing Trains for Earthquake Disaster Events
Almost 100 members of Missouri Wing from across the state participated in an earthquake disaster training exercise last weekend -- with aircrew, ground teams, and small unmanned aircraft system (sUAS) drone teams evaluating critical infrastructure (such as roads, bridges, levees, dams, and airports) following a simulated 7.1 magnitude earthquake affecting the Bootheel area. The earthquake training mission also involved simulated flooding along major rivers in the state. Mission base was at the Rolla National Airport in Vichy, MO, with multiple staging areas throughout the state.
The Missouri Wing is an integral component of the state's New Madrid Seismic Zone earthquake plan and trains continuously to be ready when needed.
