Passing of Minnesota Wing Member and Pilot

North Central Region is saddened to learn of the passing of Maj. Richard Wenzel of Minnesota Wing's Pipestone Senior Squadron at the age of 72.

Maj. Wenzel was an outstanding pilot and an active member of the Pipestone Senior Squadron for almost 43 years. He served in many duty positions for the squadron right up until the time of his passing -- including Emergency Services Officer, Search and Rescue Officer, Maintenance Officer, Supply Officer, and assistant Finance Officer.

Maj. Wenzel also served 36 dedicated years in the South Dakota Air National Guard before retiring as a Master Sergeant (E-7). Maj. Wenzel will be greatly missed by the Pipestone Senior Squadron and by all of those who had the pleasure of knowing him.
