S. Dakota Search and Rescue Exercise Held
South Dakota Wing held a Search and Rescue Exercise (SAREX) today, with operations taking place on both sides of the state. The training aimed to maintain mission readiness and sharpen capabilities for aircrews, ground teams, sUAS team, and communications.
Incident Commander Capt. Jacob Roth praised the day’s efforts, saying: "Today was a huge success in not only training, but also in our ability to adapt to the curve balls that were thrown at us. Everyone in the South Dakota Wing is willing to shift roles and respond to any situation, and that’s what makes us good at what we do."
The training focused on improving team coordination under pressure, and situational awareness, all of which are vital to CAP’s emergency response, search and rescue, and homeland security missions.
