South Dakota Wing Flies Local Teacher

South Dakota Wing flew another Teacher Orientation Program (TOP) Flight. Aerospace Education Member Mercedes Knapp, a STEM and math teacher at St. Elizabeth Seton Elementary School, enjoyed her first flight in a small aircraft, soaring over her school, Mount Rushmore, Black Elk Peak, and Crazy Horse. Mercedes can't wait to share her unforgettable experience and inspire her students with aviation this fall.

Civil Air Patrol's Teacher Orientation Program provides K-12 and formal/informal educators who join as Aerospace Education Members with a free orientation flight. The program features a pre-flight briefing, a flight with a local CAP pilot in a CAP aircraft, and a chance to take the controls.
