South Dakota Squadron Provides Honors at POW/MIA Event
South Dakota Wing's Lincoln County Composite Squadron Color Guard Honored at POW/MIA Recognition Day
The Lincoln County Composite Squadron Color Guard had the privilege of Posting and Retiring the Colors, as well as presenting the POW/MIA table during the POW/MIA Recognition Day ceremony held at Veteran's Park in Sioux Falls.
Following the event, the Color Guard was invited to a special presentation and supper hosted by the family of Lt. Col. Walter A. Renelt, whose remains were recently recovered and returned home after being Missing in Action in Vietnam.
The Alliance and the Renelt family presented the Color Guard with a commemorative plaque in gratitude for their continued commitment to honoring POW/MIA service members. The family specifically recognized the squadron’s unwavering dedication in standing vigil over the past several years—not only for Lt. Col. Renelt, but also for the six other South Dakota servicemen who remain unaccounted for.
