Stroup Passes Commercial Checkride

January 9, 2023

CAP Senior Member Trey Stroup of Pierre Composite Squadron has passed his Commercial Pilot checkride.

The accomplishment took place on December 27. Stroup completed his Instrument Rating in October and his private pilot’s rating this past February, on his way to his dream of being a commercial airline pilot.

“A lifelong dream is slowly being turned into a reality,” Stroup said. “Hard work and helpful people are making the future brighter than ever before.”

Stroup joined Civil Air Patrol in 2018 as a cadet in Pierre. He graduated high school and became a senior member in 2020. After graduation, he went to flight school and plans to graduate this May from Lake Area Tech in May 2023 with his CFI, CFII, and Multi-engine ratings. He is working with Maj E.W. Filler on completing his CAP flight ratings.

“Trey sets his mind on a goal and is quite focused on achieving it,” said his squadron commander, Capt. Ruth Carley. “His dedication and hard work inspire others to keep pressing on to their goals.”
