REGION STAFF COLLEGE GOES ONLINE
Due to U.S. Air Force travel restrictions, the 2020 North Central Region Staff College will be held online in a virtual classroom.
WHAT IS REGION STAFF COLLEGE?
Civil Air Patrol’s Region Staff College (RSC) is an in-depth study of management, leadership, and communications designed to prepare selected mid-career CAP Senior Member officers for positions at the Wing and Region levels. The curriculum is completed over 40 classroom hours in a laboratory/seminar environment. Seminar discussions, case studies, and practical exercises will guide Staff College students through these requirements.
Region Staff College curriculum encompasses study in a wide array of areas, including:
• Management of people and resources
• Effective interpersonal communications
• Principles of organization
• Practical and creative problem solving
• Written communications
• Diversity and group dynamics
• CAP mission accomplishment at the Region level
Region Staff College is taught by a variety of highly qualified individuals including CAP Commanders, Air Force instructors, and CAP Members who teach professionally, as well as those who are executives in their civilian careers. Each staff member is carefully screened and selected based on their experience.
In addition, Region Staff College is a requirement for completing Level IV of the Senior Member Professional Development Program. Completion of Level IV is a requirement for promotion to CAP Major.
AM I ELIGIBLE TO ATTEND?
To be eligible to attend the North Central Region Staff College, you must be an active CAP Senior Member with no specific grade. However, you must have completed SLS, CLC, Level III, and be current with the CAP Safety Education Program.
Acceptance is based on the receipt of first approved applications.
HOW LONG IS REGION STAFF COLLEGE?
The NCR Region Staff College will begin on xx 2020, and end on yy 2020.
AT A COST YOU CAN AFFORD!
Region Staff College is extremely affordable. Commercial programs equivalent to RSC can cost hundreds and even thousands of dollars! Registration fees of $15.00 are due with your application to the Region Staff College. This fee helps defray technology and certificate mailing costs.
APPLY EARLY—SPACES ARE LIMITED
You will have to complete a CAPF 17 as a PDF file and upload it where the application form says “Attach Completed CAPF 17.” This form must be forwarded through your chain of command and be approved by your Wing Commander prior to uploading.
After you have clicked on the “Submit” button, you will be taken to the payment page.
You may pay by PAYPAL or other approved credit cards.
Upon acceptance to the Region Staff College, you will receive a notification that will contain all the information you will need. If you do not receive notification after a reasonable length of time, request that your Unit or Wing Professional Development Officer inquire into the status of your application.
Pre-course work will need to be completed.
Internet-capable tablet/laptop with webcam capabilities
Students will be linked up with their Seminar Advisor to complete a test run
If technology issues cannot be resolved a student may be disenrolled
The application period ends zz or when the seminars are full. Due to the excellent response in registrations and limits on technology/staff for class size, you MAY be put on a waiting list for entry into RSC.
